Houdini and Miles are afraid to signup for the new comments program it seems.

Not only is Miles scared to play defense he is scared of the D-news finding out his real identity!!

The Jazz should win on pure emotion tonight I think. The crowd will carry them.

The Suns were jacked up for the game against Denver and as a result I predict they will not be so energetic tonight. They ran alot and scored alot.

Deron missed alot, fouled alot, and as a result rested alot. He should be ready to douse the Suns with a good bounce-back game after last nights performance.

I say Booz will not be able to go tonight.

Notice nobody is talking about the results of that supposed MRI he was scheduled to get.

They don't want to inhibit fans from buying tickets for tonights game.

    Everything is always about money.

Except for the worst four or five teams in the league, the home team wins most games in the NBA. If the Jazz don't win tonight, even if they're missing the Big Three, they deserve the 5th seed. But I have faith in their defense, which has improved tremendously since brilliant Sloan came with his idea to have every player graded on every single defensive set. Once Deron and Boozer realized what they were doing wrong, they worked hard to correct it. In Boozer's case, the improvement has been stupendous. If the NBA's most improved player award were decided on the basis of defensive play only, then Boozer would win hands down. The rookie of the year in defense would be Matthews (for the entire league). And the coach of the year would be, that's right, Sloan.

the fans need to be as loud as ever tonight it is 830 plenty of time to get warmed up, missing 2 guys likely. Millsap, Price, CJ, and Matthews all need to do what they all did last night

? Where is Houdini and Miles

We have the tiebreaker over Dallas so if we win and they lose, we tie but get the #2 seed via the tiebreaker. Denver holds the tiebreaker over us so if we lose then we tie with Denver but get the #5 seed via the tiebreaker...

Go Jazz! It is a huge game against the Suns today! Win and they will be 2 or 3 seed, lose and they will be 5 seed in the west! I will be there!

jazzfiniga: They talked about this last night on the Bulls game. A couple years ago the rule changed. The only thing a division winner is guaranteed is top 4 spot, if a team does not win its division and finishes ahead like a Phoenix they become 3. In fairness, many of us including me did not know the rule

Be a man Korver! We want you to get that record but make it legit buddy. You hid from the 3 point line all night last night. Our team jacked up 18 three pointers last night and you did not shoot one of them???? We have to win tonight. We need good spacing in our offense. Spot up where you normally do. We need you to be a threat from beyond the arc. Don't be the baseball player who sits out the last day to win the batting title or Ricky Davis shooting at the opponent's basket to get a rebound and a triple double. We want you to get the record because you are the most accurate 3 point shooter in NBA history, legitimately. THIS GAME IS TOO IMPORTANT. Personal records do not matter at this point. We can't be dropped to the 5 seed because you are defering the 3's to lesser shooters.

Forgot to mention another dynamic that should help us.

Deron got in foul trouble last night and consequently never really played as many minutes. He had a bad game and he usually does not have 2 really bad ones in a row and so I would expect him to bounce back nicely knowing what is at stake.

Possessions were down in that GS game too so there was alot less running. GS never even scored 100 points so it was a slower paced game which means guys should not be as tired.

    Go Jazz.

The Suns were very hot shooting it last night. On a back to back they will likely not be as hot especially on the road.

The Jazz were not "hot" last night but played well enough to win and role players stepped up--Okur played well on the road which is wonderful for a change.

You have to believe we have the advantage in this game. Role/young players always play better at home and Millsap has historically stepped up nicely when Boozer has been out. He sure did last night.

He will have his hands full with Amare as he is on a tear but everywhere else I say we match up pretty well so I think the Jazz get win tonight.

We would be sitting pretty if we got the 3rd seed and had Portland.

I sure don't think it is unreasonable to think the Spurs go in and beat Dallas though either. Ginobli is on fire lately and the Spurs are much better. Dallas is less than stellar at home and inconsistent lately.

I SERIOUSLY DOUBT BOOZER will go tonight. Millsap historically has a good plus/minus so not too concerned.

    AKs back this weekend hopefully.

You are right - I ment GS wins for the 3rd scenario

    The key is Jazz win

And either Portland and Dallas both win at home or both lose at home. I really would like to miss out on San Antonio in the first round.

If you play tonight make sure you box out. You can help the most by rebounding and playing intelligent D on Amar'e. If he only gets 26 points instead of 44 like he did on Boozer it will really help.

Every rebound he does not get is another possession for the Jazz. If the Jazz get more possessions than PHO they will likely win.

If DWill, Price and Mathews can hold the TOs down that is also a key.

PHO is a finesse team. Play physical and play smart. Set hard screens. Contest the 3s. PHO will carve up the Jazz from outside if the 3s are open.

This should be winable even without Boozer. Just tighten up the D and play hard. Make it an Eastern Conf playoff game.

Jazz would not be 2nd seed if Dallas wins, as in your 3rd scenario. If Dallas wins they have a better record than us.

Also, if I remember right, while being a division leader can move you up in the standings, home court advantage is still decided by your record. If a team is 4th because they win their division, but the 5th team still has a better record, the 5th team gets home court advantage over the 4th team.

The only way the division affects home court advantage is if the two teams are tied. Any division leader owns an automatic tie breaker over a non division leader.

    If Jazz lose -

they are 5th seed and play 4th Denver.
They also lose the division to Denver.

    If Jazz win -
    and Dallas wins -

Jazz are 3rd seed and play Portland no matter what (because SA lost to Dallas, Portland gets 6th win or lose).

    If Jazz win -
    and Dallas loses -

Jazz are 2nd seed and then

if Portland beats Golden State -

2nd Jazz play 7th San Antonio

if Portland loses to Golden State -

    2nd Jazz play 7th Portland

Utah is favored by 6/6& 1/2 points. Given the injuries that is interesting.

Does anyone know if DWill's fingers are okay? What is the status of Boozer? Is AK capable of moving laterally? Is Okur stiff?

    April 14, 2010 9:56 a.m.

A guess a couple years ago they changed the rule that the divison leaders had to finish top 3 becasue the the spurs and Mavs had the top 2 records but played each other in the second round so now they have changed it so the divison leaders only have to finish in the top 4, which would allow Phoenix to be the 3 seed.

I stand corrected. I didn't believe Denver would loose 2 of 3 coming down the stretch. THANK YOU Phoenix!!

Also, Thank you Wesley and Paul. This post-season is going to be fun to watch and I'm more than excited for the seasons to come. We'll see tonight how we handle back-to-back games when it really matters. I'm a believer. Go JAZZ!!!

If the Jazz lose they have the 5th seed.

Now if the Jazz win: William - we need you tomorrow. Yesterday was the first game that Williams was awful and the Jazz pulled it out in a while. Price is crazy, but he saved us.
    Williams in wins - FG% 49.9%, 3pt% 41%
    Williams in looses - FG% 42.5 3pt% 26.5$

The important game that no-one is talking about is Golden State at Portland. Golden State is the fastest paced team against the slowest paced team. Portland. Had Monte Ellis shot the ball well the Jazz loose that game

    There are 5 options.

Best case - San Antonio and GS wins on the road. Utah 2 seed playing Portland

2nd best case - Both Dallas and Portland wins at home. Utah 3 seed against Portland - second round no home court against Dallas

3rd - Dallas wins and GS wins. - The Jazz move up to the 2 seed but play San Antonio.

4th - Dallas wins and GS wins. Jazz play SA as a 3 seed.

Worst Case - Jazz Lose - and they have to play ever series on the road.

    RE: EatSleepSki13 @ 8:25am:

    I stand corrected. From NBA.com:
"Teams 1 to 4 in each conference are the three division winners and the team with the next best regular-season record, with the seeding of these four teams determined by regular-season record. The playoffs seedings of Teams 5 to 8 are based upon regular-season record. Ties are broken pursuant to the rules set forth below."

So, Phoenix COULD get the #3 seed, and IF they do, then Utah plays Denver on the road. Right...? :)

    April 14, 2010 8:37 a.m.

Not sure how they could mess up that badly and think that PHO could get the 3rd seed. Clearly, #3 will go to either Utah or Denver as the Northwest Division Leader. Come on, TNT, you're better than that...

  • EatSleepSki13
    April 14, 2010 8:25 a.m.

No, if the jazz lose they would be the 5 seed and have to play the nuggets. The division leaders always have home court advantage but aren't necessarily the 1-3 seeds. So Denver would get the 4 seed with a jazz loss and we're stuck playing them

  • Jazzfaninga
    April 14, 2010 7:52 a.m.

There is a mistake. If the Jazz lose they will not be playing Denver. The Northwest division winner gets the 3 seed not matter what so the Jazz would play Phoenix. TNT got it wrong last night as well when they kept saying Phoenix could be the 3 seed, they can't because the 3 division leaders get 1-3, and LA is ahead of Phoenix.

Maybe Kirilenko can pull a Willis Reed and shock and stun all of us, lift the building, players fans and coaches, and prove his $18 million by playing tonight. We need him to win, the place will go ballistic.. The season could be determined a success or failure by one game- either you get a beatable Portland or open up in Denver Saturday Night or Sunday. Besides, Kirilenko would ave to be ready by Saturday anyway. TNT does not start coverage until Sunday. My guess is because the Jazz will try and avoid Sunday home games, that Saturday Night on ESPN if we win would open up then Portland so AK has little more time to get ready anyway,

    Come on AK47 Wow Us!

  • Bugoff
    April 14, 2010 1:09 a.m.

I do not think that LA will roll OKC. Nobody wants to draw OKC. LA is not a good road team and OKC can get hot.

Beating PHO is big problem. The loss of Boozer hurts on offense. The loss of AK hurts on defense.

DWill has to have a better game than at GS. The Jazz were missing 16 mill worth of AK and 13 Mill worth of Boozer and about 1/2 of 16 Mill worth of DWill and still won.

PHO sliced up DEN with ease. However, their record against Western play off teams on the road is not that great.

Will the Jazz have enough fire power and defense to hold them off?

A 2 or 3 seed against POR is a much better match up than a 5 seed against DEN even if DEN is not playing well. The Jazz do not match up with DEN.

  • toddfromsantaana
    April 14, 2010 12:28 a.m.

I think the best thing is now:

Fine, Dallas can beat the Spurs. We beat Phoenix

We play Portland and although respect the opponent see no worse than a 6 game series victory. Unless "our boy" gets outcoached..

This means in Round 2 we play best of 7 vs Dallas assuming they knock off San Antonio. Dallas is beatable at home. Even if they win 1 here, The Jazz might be ready to take 2 out of 4 there. You can overcome them I think even without Home Court...

Worst case San Antonio-Dallas will have a battle in the pits and it will be a 6 or 7 game mental and physical battle. That series with a fresh Parker is like acquiring a new player and could be huge vs an older guy like Kidd. Maybe we will see an upset there who knows.

Unfortunately the Lakers have Ok City who is fading somewhat and they are so young that the Lakers will likely roll them in 5 games//

However, round 2 would pit LA vs Phoenix or Denver that could be fairly interesting, if "fairly officiated" would be somewhat interesting...

thank you to the guys who stepped up, i vouch for that. CJ Miles, Wesley Matthews played theyr'e socks off and really hustled and played all ends of the court. Millsap seemingly got every missed shot and played like the hungry Millsap of 2008-2009, Okur after missing games came to play and the 3s early seemed to demoralize and stun the Warriors. Korver did well also, Koustos gave a good 5 minutes or so, DWIL could direct and did not need a monster game. The Warriors were off with the 3s tonight luckily. As happens a lot up there Ellis and Curry can shoot you into a game or out of a game.

What an incredible night,. To watch the "thuggets" stunned reaction in the bench, the self doubt is creeping in, and they do miss Karl. Dantley seems too passive and out of his realm to hold that ship up. Grigovich should have been named coach but he probably did not want it.

My goodness sports fans 830 tomorrow ESPN 'JAAZZ TICKET HOLDERS' MOVED TO 830!!

A win and we would be #3 no worse Dallas winning division does not matter, NO LAKER BRACKET YEAHHHHHHH

Thank You Price, CJ, Mathews, Memo and Millsap. I am not a Price fan but I am changing my mind. He played under control most of the time and had 9 assists. The above 5 players came up big when needed.

1/4 Boozer and 1/2 a DWill and the rest of the team still stepped up and grabbed this victory. It is impressive. The Jazz do have heart.

PHO had an easy night of it. DEN did not play defense and just got beat. They looked like the Jazz on a bad night.

Someone has to play D on Amar'e tomorrow. Koufos and Fez will have to play and come thru if Boozer can't go. Millsap will foul out. Hopefully Okur continues hot. Maybe AK can play but not likely.

PHO torched the Nugs with 3s. They also out rebounded them 52 to 34.

The Jazz can win without Boozer since Amar'e torches Boozer. Someone else will have to score Boozer's points.

Koufos, Fez and Millsap can rebound and play D but they are not great scorers. DWill has got to have his game together. What happened tonight?
