I love how they were using fake microphones! That shows how much they were enjoying themselves. They'll need that loose feeling for their next game. Good luck Cougars!

excitement beating a 10th seed? Whatever.

Have they announced when the parade will be? And anyone know when the provo mayor presents to JT the key to the city?

Let's not forget the real hero of this game: Loyd! That cat gave us fuel when we were sputtering--he played without an ounce of fear or hesitation. Also, he saved the game, hitting 4 huge free throws and a sweet bank shot to force the 2nd overtime. His play removed some of the pressure from Jimmer's shoulders, allowing him (Jimmer) to loosen up as the game went on.

Joe you are right. There are 3 very pretty girls in this tournament and the rest if they put on make up they look good as well. That is the rest play with heart they can beat anybody. It is all mental now, throw out the records, it is total want to and heart now.

Thoughts on BYU's first NCAA win in awhile:

Davies looked like a freshman in his first NCAA tournament game.

Miles isn't looking to productive--kind of out of his league, maybe?

I was so amazed at how many points Jimmer got in layups. Way to go, kid. You definitely confused them. I'm sure they were expecting more jumpers.

Great win. Should never have gotten to overtime, but way to close it out in the second one.

BYU's lack of inside game and Florida's having an inside game is what made a game of it.

If both Jimmer and Floyd hadn't been ON, this could've been a loss.

JT, Haws, and Emery did okay, but one or more of them will need to shine against K-State for BYU to win that one.

With the chip off their shoulder BYU can play like it is just another conference game. Nice and relaxed. Not having to force the big shot. But to beat k state BYU will need to start fredette, lloyd, davies, hartsock, and abuou. Get your explosive shooters, your rebounders, and you best defensive players in early to get a good start. K state will beat BYU through jump shots and layups like the ones fredette was doing today. If we can stop those then we have a good chance of squeeking out a win. O and what was it you yewts were saying? One and done? bet you wish you could take that back. Plus what's this on squeeking by a bad florida team. If I am correct murry state won, Old dominion won, robert morris almost beat nova, ohio is beating georgetown now, and st marrys beat richmond. The tournament is about heart. Not whether you barely got in or not. It is who plays the hardest and who wants it more. Obviously utah didn't want to get here. But the would get wrecked so its a good thing they aren't in the dance

    GO COUGARS!!!!!

I thought the Coug big guys steped it up and worked pretty darn hard.
Jimmer is a never quit kinda guy and Haws is gonna feel a lot better by the next game!
Rose used his kids extremly well in my HUMBLE opinion.
    Nice job coaching..
GO Cougs, all of us Cougar fans who are allways fans are still here and not gonna come up missin any time soon...

Your egos just cannot stand it can they? Your enmity will not allow you to be courteous. It shows that you have nothing to contribute to the human race. Why don't you just attend your next dermatology appointment and ask for a double dose?

This was a great win. The haters that were posting "one and done" for about the last six months have all disappeared and now they're saying BYU was "lucky" to beat an awful Florida team, the same team yewts have been talking up since selection sunday. Sorry, but ya'll need to get a life and stop hating. You're sorry program is not even playing in the CBI this year and last season Utah couldn't beat a 12 seed so your attempts to discredit BYU's win over a 10 seed are a joke. Again, stop hating and get a life. As for the game against K-State, there's no shame in losing to a 2 seed, but if BYU plays really well they can definitely win that game. Will be tough though.

    GO Cougars!

Now that the proverbial monkey is off their backs, it will be very interesting to see how the cougars play against K-State, relaxed with nothing to lose. I have a feeling this will be a very good game and a real opportunity for BYU to make it past the first weekend.

  • Boylen
    March 18, 2010 5:15 p.m.

I paid BYU to take a fall, they'd better give me the 1.2 million dollars that I didn't earn back.

  • No more Monkeys!
    March 18, 2010 5:03 p.m.

I'm so glad that they finally got the monkey off their backs! But they sure didn't make it easy for us to watch them almost choke it away. I don't think we have the "bigs" to compete with Kansas State. They rolled North Texas pretty easily, which I thought they would, but they're big and they have great guard play as well.
Go Cougars! If everyone plays well, they can win, and if they win then they get to come home to SLC for the Sweet Sixteen!

Ha! Even the CBI didn't want the Utes this time. Cougar-envy, methinks.

No matter what the Cougs did, there will be those who nay say or complain.

Let's hope the day of between games in enough time to recover to KSU which had a sleep walk.

Congrats to the Cougs, impressive win. I wasn't surprised they won as they were favored and a 7 should beat a 10 but nevertheless it was good to see Utah and the West represented well.

The gathering in Spokane consisted of Aggies and Zags all cheering on the Cougars.

I do think Jimmer will need to incorporate his teammates a little more if they are to have any chance. K State has the athletes to slow Jimmer down.

Winning when you are supposed to is easier than winning when you're not, let's get it done Y.

Hope your personal drought ends soon too ... haha.

  • Best y team ever?
    March 18, 2010 4:11 p.m.

The y has its best record of all time. And yet they could barely get by a team that snuck into the tournament?

Be concerned about Kansas State zoobies. Very concerned. You can count on the Big XII to jam Jimmer. Enjoy the moment!
