Why is the ByWhoo game considered a upset? If USU would have lost, then yes it would have been a upset. Anyway this article is about UTAH STATE not the Provo Wackcos... GO AGGIES!!

  • Upset win?
    March 5, 2010 10:57 p.m.

Upset win? Its exactly what I expected to happen. I believe the people who have a hard time with reality are y fans who, all last year while USU was ranked, just cried "but we beat you so we're better no matter what." Now that the tables are turned, the cry has turned to "but we're ranked so we're better no matter what." So which is it - trouble with reality or no trouble at all with hypocrisy?

The big upset win over BYU was truly your signature game. Keep on bragging it up, but it hasn't impressed the national media. When Utah was swept by the Y and USU lost to the humble Utes, it brought some reality to the scene. But then reality is a rare commodity in Loganville.

All in all i think it was a very lopsided game. But the true unsung hero is tyler newbold. His defence is insane!!! Great player

If Utah State's compared score over Fresno somehow proves that BYU is a lowly, good-for-nothing team than I guess the fact BYU swept Utah and blew them out in the Huntsman means that the Aggies are absolutely terrible and will not see anymore success this year. The Aggies already beat BYU this year. All we can do is wait and see how both teams finish off the season-it doesn't really matter who's "better" at this point.

Great Defensive effort by the whole team. The offense really didn't need to perk all that well but they did anyway and as a team. Everyone contributes. Love this team.

Explain yourself. You're talking about a team that includes 3 players expected to play NBA at the next level. Meaningless? Granted, they have a hard team playing AS A TEAM, but they are as talented as it gets. And, who's the fraud?

Some of my most memorable moments at USU were going to basketball games...Batman and Robin brought back some great memories of USU fans in the Spectrum.

The only thing bad about the Spectrum is that it's 90 minutes from my home. So we only make it to a couple of games a year. It is the best sports venue period!

    Go Big Blue!!!

I hate to sound critical, but the guy in the photo in the red cape next to Bill looks like a complete wannabe. He needs to add at least 100 lbs to his frame to get the right effect.

The interesting thing about us cheering for Fresno was that yes, it did start out as a taunt, but when a team does that poorly you can't help but feel a little sorry for them. After a few minutes of that, many of us were actually sincerely cheering them on in a manner of speaking...at least hoping they'd make the game a little more interesting. But wow, I've never seen the Aggies play defense like this. It's happened twice in the past two games. Limited Hawaii to one point over the final 10 min. of the first half and then shutting out Fresno for the first 10 min. of the game. Wow.

Actually, someone on campus has a old piece of junk geo metro or something that is spray painted black, has bat wings welded on the top, and the yellow batman symbol on the hood. I don't know who it is, but it would have been awesome if Bill and the other kid would have pulled up to the Spectrum in that hunk of junk. Maybe next year they can find the owner and work something out. haha.

The aggies may not be found in the rankings but does 71-61 ring any bells?????

  • @Re: Compare
    March 2, 2010 9:21 a.m.

Yup, it's the reverse of last year, when the Aggies were ranked, and all the Y could talk about was the fact that the Y had beat USU earlier in the year. Years, pass, the advantage shifts slightly, but idiots on both sides make the same silly arguments they castigated the other side for the year before.

Welcome to the party, and here's your sign...

thanks for being ranked makes the Aggies resume look good because we beat BYU.

  • Wear a shirt next time
    March 2, 2010 9:18 a.m.

I would hope those two guys wear shirts next time they go to a game. I remember going to a concert and on the last song the singer from the opening act took off his shirt and pants, horrible. When the next band came on stage people started shouting "keep your pants on"! I hope the Spectrum crowd gave these guys similar treatment, horrible.

Great to see the Ags rack up another win. That game was just plain embarrasing for Fresno St. I rarely feel bad for opposing teams, but last night was rediculous if you are a Bulldog fan. That said, the Aggies are playing amazing team defense and should easily roll to their third WAC regular season title in a row. Can't wait to watch Stew's crew cut down the nets on Saturday in Logan. Go State!!!

    March 2, 2010 8:26 a.m.

I loved the students doing the "whoosh" for Fresno on their first free throw make. And the mocking encouragement the entire second half as "Let's Go Bulldogs {clap clap clap}" and "Fresno...State!" rang through the Spectrum. And people say we're not classy...

  • BYU
    March 2, 2010 8:14 a.m.

What does this have to do with BYU? Aggie fans are as obsessed with BYU as Ute fans are. It doesn't matter how far Utah St. beat Fresno by. Anyone who knows about sports knows score comparisons are meaningless. One thing the Aggies and the Cougars have in common is that neither one of them can win a tournament game. By the way Aggie fans. If you don't win the WAC tournament there will be no big dance. Keep that in mind.

I have season tickets to BYU, have for about 10 years.. but I have to say that USU has the best and most rowdy fans in the state. When BYU fills the Marriot, like they did Saturday, they are the loudest, but USU fans to a stellar job of getting in the opposing teams head with chants and other funny things.

Good job USU, for all your failures in football and everything else, at least your b-ball fans got something right...

This article started by saying that when Fresno scored the aggie student section rose to their feet and gave a standing ovation? Let me clarify that. Sitting on the front row I can tell you that there was not one student sitting down and there never is. Yes everyone started cheering and clapping and making noise. But it's impossible to rise to your feet when everyone is already standing.

Cleveland, you are to blame for this disgrace. What did you tell you team before the game, during the game, after the game. Did you motivate them at all. You are the disaster, not the team.

  • Big Dance
    March 2, 2010 6:02 a.m.

IT IS TIME TO WIN A GAME IN THE BIG DANCE. I know we need to do things one step at a time-beat New Mexico State, and then win the WAC tournament, but, a run in the big dance would be very exciting and is long overdue. That being said, the Aggies are really hot and doing a fantastic job of representing a great university. GO AGGIES!!!

  • Team
    March 2, 2010 5:11 a.m.

The Aggies play as a team and they are a good team. Fresno, obviously, did not look like they showed up, but alot of that had to do with the Aggies.

The Aggies have no weakness. I think they would struggle with a really athletic team. I really hope they make the NCAA tourney because i think they will play toguh against whoever they are matched up against.

As for the first comment being a BYU comment, I think that just shows how much respect Aggie fans (and I am one of them) have for BYU. There is no reason to even bring up BYU, but Aggies fans always do.

    fresLOL state

  • Ok
    March 1, 2010 11:36 p.m.

No one needed to bring up yBu.

But on the game, I was actually disappointed in Fresno State. I mean, really, 10 minutes to put a ball through a hoop and you call yourself a D1 basketball team? Heck, they could have put me in (I'm terrible at basketball) and you would not have known the difference. That team has given up. I felt sorry for them in some ways, but really they didn't deserve it. They have the talent and athleticism to give us a game, but they didn't try for one minute from the tipoff to the final buzzer. I don't think they actually tried a single set play in that game.

Great job to the Aggies though, for not "playing down." Business as usual. Win the game, give some minutes to the bench, punch the time card. Bring on New Mexico State.

  • Stellar photo

    It's MARCH!!

  • Wow!
    March 1, 2010 11:20 p.m.

Utah State scored more points in the first half than Fresno State did the entire game (40 to 39). Wow! Talk about dominance. We should definitely crack the top 25 after we destroy New Mexico State on Saturday. Aggies all they way!!!

    March 1, 2010 9:44 p.m.

Compare the Y and Fresno score and the score of both games USU has played Fresno. yBU doesn't even come close. Be prepared for the major demise of the Y since their loss at home.
By the way BYU, don't want to see any more comments from the Y on sportsmanship after Saturdays behavior.
