This was my first time seeing Chamberlain wrestle since he won it all as a sophmore. Lets just say when you first glance at this kid, you would think he is nothing special. However, what he did and the way he moves on the mat was the most impressive display this past weekend with Lofthouse and Salazar showing why they are great as well. Get off the idea of Salazar and Chamberlain wrestling, two great wrestlers at two totally different weights. I also feel it is way to early to compare Chamberlain to Sanderson, not taking anything from both of their unreal High School carrers.

To me, this thread is what the idea of being able to comment on a story is all about. Insightful, informative, courtious opinions and compliments to many different wrestlers. Many times, especially in sports articles, the arguments get heated and the personal back-and-forth responses get almost obscene. This blog was a welcome respite.

Chamberlain's high school accolades are just as good as Cael's. The comparison is valid at this point and the original author clearly said he might end up being just as good. Nobody knows. Once Chamberlain loses in college, then we can say, looks like Cael is better. Until then, none of us really know anything other than Chamberlain's high school performance seems to equal or slightly better Sandersons....

The comment about Chamberlain accomplishing slightly more in high school is actually correct. Cael's high school record was 127-3. He also won four state titles. However, Cael was the only NCAA wrestler to win the national title four years in a row and went 159-0 in the BIG 12!! (Not to mention his other college and Olympic wrestling accolades.) Sure Chamberlain is a great wrestler, but he's not going to be wrestling in the toughest conference in all of college wrestling at one of the consistently best programs in the country, and I highly doubt he'll go undefeated and win a gold medal. Comparing Chamberlain and Cael is like comparing Michael Jordan to Michael Beasley (Kansas State basketball this year for anyone who doesn't know who he is.) Sanderson is a one-of-a-kind, but Chamberlain is certainly someone VERY special too.

What was Sanderson's high school record? I thought he was undefeated. And did Chamberlain lose two in his career?

Chamberlain had a better HS career than Cael did, if only slightly. Up to this point he has accomplished more. That doesn't mean he'll have a better college career. He plans on serving a mission after wrestling as a true freshman at Boise State.

It is unfortunate that the winner is 4A SkyView was reported as Jared Fredrickson when it was actually Jared Erickson.

Matt Brown is an incredible young man; astute student, loyal friend and the most upstanding HS senior you will find. Oh yeah, and he's also a champion wrestler. He is the picture of sportsmanship and treats opponents and coaches with the respect they deserve. It was a pleasure to watch him seal his third straight title last night, making CHS history.

Congrats Ethan and Raider. You two deserve all that you get. YOu have worked so hard, and it is always so good to hear you win. I am glad that your team pulled out the championship. It is always good to see you guys stay over at the house after the wins.

Chamberlain is a stud. Salazar, Lofthouse, & Larsen are close behind in my humble opinion.

Nobody will ever be as good as Sanderson. No disrespect to Chamberlin, but we are talking about Cale Sanderson

Springville's Chamberalin is the best wrestler this state has had since C. Sanderson. When Chamberlin is done, he might be just a good.
