the students of the band (which i am one of them) paid for it, with some help of fundraisers the students did, and by some local companies/groups donating money, and a special thanks to the AF bank for the 43 grand! :) that helped us a lot! thank you! it cost each of us apprx. $2100 to go. marching band a lone is $400 and the trip was the $1700, so thanks everybody for the love and support!

My heart is pounding with PRIDE!! You did it!! You were able to march in the parade of all parades!! What an honor it is to associate with such great kids that represented our state and our values in such a dignified way!! I'm so grateful for these wonderful young people who have worked sooooooo hard and for our fearsome leader John Miller and the countless hours they have all spent practicing. This program has changed not only our son's life but ours as well. What an example of pride, determination and excellence!! Go Cavemen!! We love you and are so proud of you!

Congratulations to Mr. Miller and the American Fork High School Marching Band! You made us proud! It was a nice touch to play the fight song at the end of your routine on tv. "...we'll always bring the honors back...." Thanks for carrying on the tradition!

I work with a gentleman that has a son play in the band. Their whole family went with the band on this once in a lifetime trip. His work with me is a 2nd job that was used to finance the trip. My understanding is that it was all paid from fundraisers, donations, and individual contributions.

However, I am at a loss as to why you feel tax dollars shouldn't be used to pay the students and teachers way for such a once in a life time opportunity. The opportunity for real learning from the experience would be worth every dollar to the students in my eyes.

Just one question -- Who paid for the band to go? If it came from private pockets great, keep going. If it came from my Tax dollars going to public education - never go again.

A perfect moment on a perfect day. Seeing the AF Band proudly marching into Herald Square was so thrilling -- especially for us few AF transplants now living on the east coast. We were so proud to tell anyone and everyone around us, "that's our band!!!" Terrific performance, Cavemen. Thanks for a perfect memory.

I was actually up and awake to see the parade, and got to see the band! They looked and sounded awesome, and I liked how the commentators told how they raised all the money themselves to go.

    Good job!!!!

It great to see that the HS marching band hasn't died away completely. I grow up in a family of band teachers back when the Big Bands were so exciting. Cache Valley used to be the home for such big bands as the AF band. SV and MC, LHS even had a marching band. There is so much work that goes into these programs. To take that many young, disciplined, musicians and pull them together on a level no sporting event could even begin to imagine and come together as one sound has got to be the greatest exhibition of talent that can happen at the high school level. I applaud your Administration for supporting you director and program. AF Band, way to represent Utah!!!

We watched the parade and cheered when American Fork's band came marching down the street. I thought they sounded VERY professional and were glad they represented our state so well!

I was able to make the trip up to NYC for the parade. The band looked absolutely awesome. It was so good to see a piece of home, and the band was everything that I could have imagined. I loved every minute of the time that I taught at AF, and seeing the band brought back many memories. Congratulations for representing the way you should.
