With the 2019 high school softball season getting underway this week, the Deseret News has compiled capsules for every team in Class 6A.

With a freshman/sophomore heavy crew, there will some learning to do but Bingham is not without tools to compete. Sophomore Pitcher Emily Dority will carry much of the load from the mound with help from fellow sophomores Averi Hanny and Paige Braunbeck. Junior Aubree Hogan, senior Sophia Badell and senior Taylen Braunbeck are expected to spend time behind the plate and around the infield while also providing offensive firepower. Multisport athlete junior Alayna Haas adds defensive depth and leadership while sophomore speedster Berklee Marx will anchor the outfield with several talented freshman showing potential to run the outfield with her.”

Coach comment: “We are a young team with 11 of our 15 varsity players being sophomores or freshmen, however we won the Fall League going 10-1 and beat some of the top teams from 4A and 5A last year – and this year. With a healthy NaKyia Butler (partially torn patella last year) and a healthy Halle Carpenter (MCL sprain early last season – was top 2 in the state in strikeouts when she got injured) we are a much better team. With Jerika Fitting having another year of experience and with the work my team put in over the summer and fall I think we will surprise some people this year!”
