There were several notable performances this past weekend from the Utah prep ranks. As always, whittling them down to the top five wasn't an easy task. A lot of people might be asking why players such as Chase Hansen and DJ Nelson were excluded from the list considering their performances. With both of them committing to Utah and Utah State, respectively, they'll be appearing on the top commit performance list of the week.

5 Cooper Bateman, 6-3, 200, QB, Cottonwood High
Ravell Call, Deseret News

Bateman went 23-41 for 345 yards and three touchdowns while rushing the ball 12 times for another 66 yards. His final pass of the game went for a last-second touchdown in the Colt's thrilling 41-38 win over West Jordan.

4 Martavius Redmond, 6-3, 190, WR, West Jordan High

Three of Redmond's nine receptions went for touchdowns in their heart-breaking loss to the Colts. He accounted for 158 yards overall and certainly looks to be one of the top wide receivers in the state this year.

3 Blake Barney, 6-0, 175, QB, Dixie High

Barney had a very efficient game throwing for 432 yards and two touchdowns on just 18 pass attempts. He completed 13 of those attempts in his team's 44-0 rout of Canyon View.

2 Brian Scott, 6-1, 220, RB, Hurricane High

It was a huge game against Pine View, and Scott had the biggest performance on the field. He ran the ball 27 times for 168 yards and three touchdowns during his team's 35-21 win.

1 Jono Schettler, 6-2, 179, WR, Park City High

Schettler caught nine passes for 251 yards and three touchdowns on Friday. He helped his team to a big 55-23 win over Uintah.
