Although Easter usually falls in the middle of the "best holiday" list, Americans still spend billions of dollars celebrating.
Easter has morphed throughout the years to include a variety of items Americans purchase and make throughout the months of March and April.

According to the National Retail Federation, Americans are projected to spend an average of $137.46 on Easter-related items this year, with the total amount equaling around $15.9 billion. This amount is slightly lower than last year’s average of $145.13 a person ($17.2 billion overall).
According to a 2012 Gallup poll, 77 percent of Americans identified themselves as Christians. Approximately 52 percent said they were Protestant/Other Christian, 23.3 percent identified as Catholic, and 2.1 percent identified as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Last year, PR Newswire reported a survey conducted by the Knights of Columbus to determine how many people were planning on attending Easter Sunday church services. They found that nearly 6 in 10 Americans (58 percent) were planning to attend church services.
According to Statistic Brain, approximately 16 billion jelly beans are produced for the holiday. The National Confectioners Association noted that the most popular flavor is cherry, followed by strawberry. Licorice placed third with lemon and grape at the bottom of the list. Approximately 21 percent of those surveyed noted they preferred a flavor that wasn't included in the five listed.
Annually for Easter, 90 million chocolate bunnies are made. More than 88 percent of Americans surveyed by the National Confectioners Association said they eat a chocolate bunny by starting with the ears, 6.6 percent of people said the feet, and 4.7 percent start with the tail.
The largest chocolate bunny on record was made in South Africa in 2010. The 3,010 kg (6,635 pounds, 91 ounces) treat took three days to make by four people.
The first Cadbury Easter egg was created in 1875 in England, with the popular Cadbury Creme Egg debuting in 1971. Mondelēz International and Cadbury UK sell the eggs across the world. The Hershey Co. gained exclusive rights to manufacture and sell the eggs in the United States.
An estimated 10 million PAAS Easter egg dye kits are expected to be sold this year to decorate as many as 180 million eggs.

The world's largest Easter egg hunt is held in Copper Mountain, Colo. The ski resort sits halfway between Grand Junction and Denver. The event on April 20 will feature 50,000 eggs to find over 2,500 acres. Families can also enjoy religious services, live music and food.
According to the National Confectioners Association, 87 percent of Americans buy or create Easter baskets for their children.
