1. Dennis Pitta, 2008

Pitta teamed up with brother-in-law Max Hall to produce 83 catches for 1,083 yards and an average of 13.0 yards per catch.

2. Chris Smith, 1990

Smith caught 68 passes from Ty Detmer for 1,156 yards, an average of 17 yards per catch, and set an NCAA record for tight ends.

3. Gordon Hudson, 1982

Hudson caught 67 passes for 960 yards for an average of 14.3 yards per catch from Steve Young. Both ended up in the College Football Hall of Fame and were All-Americans.

4. Gordon Hudson, 1983

Hudson backed up his great year with Young by catching 67 passes for 928 yards and an average of 13.9 yards per catch.

5. Jonny Harline, 2005

Harline teamed up with John Beck for 63 catches and 853 yards. Their average play went for 13.4 yards and led to the "Answered Prayer" catch at Utah a season later.

6. Trevor Molini, 1985

Molini was a 400-meter sprinter from Reno, Nev., whose BYU career was short. But he caught 63 passes for 849 yards, an average of 13.5 yards per catch.

7. Dennis Pitta, 2009

Pitta teamed up with Hall for 59 catches for 813 yards and an average of 13.8 yards per catch. The combo made BYU's offense effective and dynamic.

8. Chris Smith, 1989

Smith caught 60 passes from the savvy Detmer during his sophomore year. Those passes went for 1,090 yards and and a whopping 18.2 average per catch. Both went on to earn All-America honors.

9. David Miles, 1984

Miles teamed up Robbie Bosco for an undefeated season. Miles made a game-saving catch against Air Force and finished with 60 catches for 1,023 yards, an average of 17.1 yards per play.

10. Dennis Pitta, 2007

Pitta broke in Hall after Beck departed by catching 59 passes for 813 yards, an average of 13.8 yards per catch. Pitta has three of the top 10 yard-producing seasons by a Cougar tight end.
