In April 2013, the State Department's office of the chief of protocol released the list of presents American government officials received from foreign government officials, including gifts given to President Barack Obama.
A list of new gifts was released on August 30, 2013.
The acceptance of the gifts, which range from a large black Hermes golf accessory bag to a wooden mask carved into the shape of a jaguar head, were justified, the office said, because "non-acceptance would cause embarrassment to donor and U.S. government."
The U.S. requires all such gifts be reported and turned over to the National Archives or other institutions for display.
Here's a look at some of the unique gifts the president and his family have been given.
