What is the location of the starting line?

  • Marathon: Top of Big Mountain up Emigration Canyon
  • Half Marathon: 1/4 of the way up Little Mountain from the Emigration Canyon side
  • 10K: University of Utah Research Park, above Wakara Way by the cemetery
  • 5K: South Temple and 1000 East

Where is the best place to park at the starting line?

  • Marathon: Park in Rice Eccles stadium parking lot on the west end. No parking at starting line. Only access to start it by bus.
  • Half Marathon: Park in Rice Eccles stadium parking lot on the west end. No parking at starting line. Only access to start it by bus.
  • 10K: Park at Research Park
  • 5K: side streets or school parking lot

What is the best way to get to the starting line?

  • The Day's of 47 Parade starts at 9am, so you should miss most road closures. For the 10K and 5K you can take the 600 North exit to avoid most of Downtown. For marathon and half marathon you can only get to the start line by Bus.

Where are the location of the aid stations?

  • For the marathon there are 13 aid stations, 2 of the stations have energy gel.

What nutrition is provided at the aid stations?

  • Drinks: gatorade and water
  • Nutrition: energy gels

What are the locations of the bathrooms?

  • There are Porta Potties at the start and finish line and at every aid station. You might want to go before you come to try and avoid long lines at the starting line.

Where are the best places for families to park and watch?

  • Marathon and half marathon: Hogle Zoo parking lot is the best place to watch them come out of the canyon
  • Finish Line: Remember that Liberty Park is where the parade ends, so you can't park in the park. You can find parking spots on the street or if you are okay with walking about a mile park at Smith's Marketplace (876 E 800 S)

Where is the Bus pick-up and drop off?

  • Marathon: Buses pick-up at the Rice Eccles Stadium on the West end. Buses start leaving at 3:45 a.m.
  • Half Marathon: on info (which races) Marathon and half marathon buses at Rice Eccles Stadium, on the west end. Marathon buses leave starting at 4:30 a.m.

Where are the buses located after the race?

  • Buses are located on the East side of Liberty Park on 700 East. *There is NO shuttle back to the 5K and 10K starting line, so make sure to make arrangements with family and friends to drive you back.

What are the average weather temperatures for July 24th?

  • Quite cool in the mountains but when you hit the valley expect an immediate and significant increase in temperature. Can vary in the valley from 70 to 85 degrees depending on your pace and the weather man.

Can I get dropped off instead of riding the bus for the Marathon and Half Marathon?

  • No, to keep other runners safe police limits the traffic in the canyon.

Where and when is the awards ceremony?

  • There is no award ceremony. However, those who finished in the Top 3 in their division can pick up their medals at a table located near the posted results.

Where are the water stations located?

  • Water stations are at every other mile, starting at mile 3 of the marathon.

How much time you will be waiting at the top of Emigration Canyon?

  • Depending on what bus you take to the start will be the determining factor as to how long you are up there. It can be chilly up there, so take jackets and we have fires at the start of the marathon.

Is there a Bag drop-off?

  • Yes, we provide bags for the marathon and half marathon runners to put your personal things in. They will be dropped off at the Liberty Park just east of the medical tent. *Do not put anything of significant value in these bags, we are not responsible for any bags left after the race has ended.

What type of timing system is used?

  • A chip is placed on the backside of your bib number. You do need to make sure you run across the mats and the starting and finish line to get a time. The chips are disposable.

What types of snacks are provided during and at the end of race?

  • Only snacks during the race will be the gel at mile 17. Lots of bananas, bagels, Creamies, water, etc are provided at the finish.

Is there a host hotel?

  • The Salt Lake City Marriott University Park is our host hotel. That is where packet pick up is and they offer a rate of $122.00 a night if you mention the race. They do not provide hotel shuttles for the race.

What is the Refund Policy?

  • We do not provide refunds. You can transfer to a different race, but must contact us before July 22nd. If you move to a more expensive race you will need to pay the extra cost, no partial refunds will be given if you move to a lower race.

Do you have pacers?

  • We do not provide pacers.

Do you provide tracking on location for family and friends to monitor?

  • No.

Is Finish line photography provided?

  • We will have photographers at the finish line. There will be a card in your packet that will provide the URL for photo purchasing.

Can I pick up a packet for someone else?

  • Yes, please provide a written note with their consent.
