A 57-year-old Hurricane woman charged with murder in the June 19 shooting death of her elderly mother waived her preliminary hearing Tuesday in 5th Circuit Court, officials said.

Judge Robert Owens then ordered Ilo Grundberg bound over to 5th District Court, court clerks said. The arraignment before Judge Philip Eves was pending.

Grundberg was arrested June 20 without incident in the shooting death of her 81-year-old mother, Mildred Coats.

Hurricane police said Coats was shot in the head with a .22 caliber revolver. Officers said they went to the home shared by the two women after a granddaughter called from California to report the shooting.
