Registration for July 25's Deseret News-KSL Marathon and 10K, will be accepted weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. or this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Runners may register in person at the Deseret News, 30 East, First South, or by mailing registration forms to Race Headquarters, Deseret News, P.O. Box 1257, Salt Lake City, UT 84110.To encourage early registration, the deadline without penalty for the marathon and 10K is July 14. Procrastinators have until July 21 - with a late fee - to sign for either race. No registrations will be accepted after July 21.
Cost for the marathon is $10 and for the 10K, $8, until 2 p.m. July 21. After that time, the cost increases to $15 and $12, respectively. Early registration is encouraged for data input for the computers, according to race officials.
More than $28,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded, including a 1988 Hyundai from Larry H. Miller to the top male and female 10K runners. Other 10K awards for male and female finishers include $1,000 for 2nd, $600 for 3rd, $500 for 4th, $350 for 5th, $200 for 6th, and $100 for 7th.
In the 10K wheelchair division, men's and women's first place receive $250 each.
In the marathon, the winning male and female runners will receive a trip for two to Hawaii through Murdock Travel Management.
Trophies, plaques, medals and ribbons will also be awarded in regular race divisions.
