Eugene Overfelt, senior vice president and marketing officer for Key Bank of Utah, has retired after 40 years in the banking industry.

Overfelt has been employed by Key Bank for 17 years, serving as a vice president and business development officer and a senior vice president before being appointed to his current position."Mr. Overfelt has made an extremely valuable contribution to the growth and development of the bank. He is one of those people who have made a difference," said Robert H. Bischoff, chairman of the board.

Overfelt has been an active member of the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and presently serves on the Legislative Action Committee. He served as chairman of the board of Wasatch Academy, is a board member for the Utah Heart Association, the Utah Council on Economic Education, the National Advisory Board of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., the Pacific Coast Banking School and the National Advisory Board of the Small Business Administration.

He began his banking career in 1947 with the Gunnison Valley Bank in Gunnison, Sanpete County, and eventually held the position of chairman of the board. From there he went to Citibank (then known as Commercial Security Bank) in 1971.
