Utah's Hogle Zoo will remain open late every Monday night in July to allow the public to experience the zoo in a different way.
Admission gates will remain open until 8 p.m. on Mondays, two hours later than usual. All exhibits and grounds will remain open until 9:30 p.m.In the past, only zoological society members and individuals associated with private parties have had access to the zoo during the evening hours. "What zoo visitors may notice is that many of the animals vary their behavior as it becomes dusk," said LaMar Farnsworth, director.
Musical entertainment will be provided during the evenings by KUTR 860 AM. KUTR has also organized an effort to adopt one of the zoo animals. Pizza and ice cream will be sold by the station each Monday night, and all of the proceeds will go toward feeding and caring of one animal for a year.
On July 11, singers and songwriters Kenneth Cope and Julie de Azevedo will perform. Randy Thorderson and Janine Lindsey will team up on July 18, and Micheal Webb and Pamela Dawn will perform on July 25.
