The death of the wife of Melvin Paisley, a central figure in the Pentagon procurement investigation, is being re-examined after more than 20 years, Seattle area police said. "There are inconsistencies in what I understand were statements attributed to Paisley against what I understand the autopsy report indicates," King (Wash.) County Sheriff James Montgomery said Tuesday. Records are "skimpy" because there was no "full-fledged homicide investigation" at the time. Montgomery refused to discuss details of the death of Mary Lou Paisley in May 1968 at the couple's home in Kent. She was 30. Medical examiner records show the death was treated as an accident.
