Scott Muir, executive director of the Tooele County Economic Development Corp., has been elected chairman of the board of trustees of Metro Utah Inc., a group organized in 1985 as a cooperative effort to promote economic development in 11 northern Utah counties.

Other officers elected at the group's annual meeting were Bobbie Coray, director of Cache County Economic Development, vice chairman; Richard Bradford, executive director of the Utah Valley Economic Development Association, treasurer; and Michael Bourn, director of the Weber Economic Development Corp., secretary.Muir said he was pleased at Metro Utah's efforts which led to creation of 1,798 jobs in the 11 counties in the past fiscal year.

"While Metro Utah will continue to build upon our success in attracting new industry to metropolitan Utah, this year the organization will place a greater emphasis on encouraging the retention and expansion of existing industry in the regions covered by Metro Utah," he said.
