The building also contains a multi-purpose board room, meeting room and a large projects room with storage and work space for philanthropic efforts. These philanthropies include Operation School Bell, which provides clothing for needy children in elementary schools; Book Bank, which supplies new books to children in elementary schools and encourages reading; Blood Pressure Clinics, which are held at the ZCMI Center and are conducted by members who have been certified and trained by the Utah Board of Health; the Senior Citizens Specialty Service, which aims at meeting individual needs and enhancing the quality of life of senior citizens in nursing homes.
Assistance League of Salt Lake City is a chapter of the National Assistance League. It is a non-profit, non-sectarian, non-political, tax-exempt, charitable organization.
Emily Hoffner is president of the local group. Chairman of the St. John benefit fashion show, which is being completely underwritten by Nordstrom, is Lydia Barkley.
