An unidentified man died Monday shortly after the motorcycle he was driving collided head-on at 4:19 a.m. with a car on I-15 near Beck Street.
The man killed was southbound on I-15 when he collided with a car, driven by Howard D. Young, 59, North Salt Lake, traveling the wrong direction. The motorcycle driver was carrying no identification, according to a Utah Highway Patrol dispatcher, and the motorcycle he was driving had not been registered since being sold one year ago.Young was treated at LDS Hospital and released later in the morning, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The motorcyclist is described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s. He had sandy brown hair, weighed about 170 pounds and was about 5 foot 9. He was riding a black 1981 Honda.
Anyone with information about the identity of the victim is urged to call the highway patrol, 965-4599.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation by Utah Highway Patrol officials.
