A fire that broke out in northwest Utah Friday afternoon has destroyed more than 900 acres of Bureau of Land Management and private property.
Tracy Thompson, fire dispatcher for the Burley, Idaho BLM, said the blaze has destroyed land in the Rosebud area of Box Elder County. The land was heavily populated with sage and juniper bushes and contained no structures.Thompson said although the fire was out of control at one time, it was nearly contained Saturday afternoon. No injuries have been reported.
Although the cause of the blaze is not known, it may have been caused by the recent dry weather. However, Thompson said the BLM has not made any official speculations. "The only thing we've ruled out is lightning," he said.
