Five Soviet teams will arrive in San Francisco Friday night to begin inspections intended to verify compliance with the U.S.-Soviet medium-range missile treaty. The Soviet government notified the United States early Friday that the five teams will land in San Francisco at 8 p.m. PDT, said Kendall Pease, a spokesman for the U.S. agency working with the Soviets. Under the treaty, the Soviets need not list the sites they want to visit until they have been in the United States 48 hours, Pease said. Other Soviets inspectors will inspect sites in the eastern United States, but their arrival time has not been relayed to the United States, Pease said.
