WOODS CROSS — A Utah Highway Patrol trooper used his vehicle to stop a wrong-way driver on I-15 in Davis County early Friday.

The incident happened about 2:30 a.m. on southbound I-15 near 2600 South in Woods Cross. When police received a report of a wrong-way driver, the Centerville Police Department helped close down the freeway as troopers investigated.

After locating the wrong-way vehicle, the trooper "was able to disable the vehicle with a modified PIT maneuver," according to a statement from the UHP.

Both the trooper and the driver were taken to Lakeview Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. After the driver is released from the hospital, he was expected to be booked into the Davis County Jail for investigation of DUI and being an alcohol restricted driver.
