OREM — A man died Thursday after his car was hit by a FrontRunner train in Orem, officials said.
About 8:30 a.m., the man, 62, was crossing railroad tracks at 400 South and 1843 West when a southbound train struck the car, the Utah Transit Authority said in a statement.Comment on this story
After the collision, the car rolled several times and stopped while upside-down. First responders had to extricate the man from the car, according to UTA. He was the only passenger.
The man died Thursday afternoon in a hospital. His name was not immediately released.
"All indications are, at this time, that the warning signs were all functioning properly and the arm at the crossing gate was down and in position," according to UTA's statement.
Additional information about what may have caused the crash was not immediately available.
No one was injured on the train, UTA said.
