TAYLORSVILLE — A woman was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car Thursday morning.Comment on this story
The 65-year-old woman was crossing the street near 3184 W. Ryan Drive (5620 South) about 7:20 a.m. when she was hit by a car heading east, said Unified Police Sgt. Melody Gray. The woman, who was not in a crosswalk, was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, Gray said.
Investigators were looking at whether the 45-year-old driver couldn't see the woman due to the rising sun as a possible cause in the crash, she said.
Gray said the incident was a reminder for both motorists and pedestrians to be extra careful at that time of the morning when the bright sun can be a factor, and take precautionary measures to prevent accidents.
