SALT LAKE CITY — “Avengers: Endgame” has a pretty definitive ending. But there is one lingering moment after the credits.

“Endgame” is the climactic finale of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s 22-movie series. The series began with 2008’s “Iron Man” and ended on Thursday night with “Avengers: Endgame.”

Context: Most of the MCU films include a mid-credits and post-credit scene. In many ways, Marvel elevated the game when it comes to end scenes. Fans waited throughout almost every MCU film to see a teaser for the next one.

Yes, but: “Endgame” doesn’t have a mid- or post-credit scene. There’s nothing. No teaser for the future of the MCU. Nothing.

Except: “Endgame” includes a sound at the end of the credits, which sounds like a hammer banging on metal, which might be a call back to the original “Iron Man” film.

  • “This may seem infuriating, but considering what one of ‘Endgame‘s' biggest character payoffs is, it’s most likely a tribute to the character of Tony Stark,” according to Uproxx.

More: The end credits also include tributes to each actor, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and more.
