Dixie State head coach Eric Pelton has been named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year, and Isabel Heras has been selected as Co-Freshman of the Year, to highlight five DSU All-RMAC selections.

In his 13th season as head coach, Pelton led the Trailblazers to a regular season record of 11-4 during the 2018-19 campaign for a winning percentage of .733. The mark represents DSU’s highest regular-season win percentage in program history. Since finishing 5-13 during the 2015-16 season, Pelton has led the Trailblazers to a 29-22 record over the past three seasons.

Heras, who also landed second team All-RMAC honors, has played alongside Yolena Carlon in the No. 1 doubles position in each match this season. The freshman has helped the duo to a 9-6 record in doubles play, including a perfect 3-0 mark in RMAC play. Additionally, Heras sports a 9-5 record in singles play, including an 8-4 mark at the No. 3 position.

Three Dixie State players landed first team All-RMAC honors, including Carlon, Kyra Harames, and Megan Lynch.

Carlon has battled to a 7-7 record at the No. 1 singles position during the 2018-19 season, consistently matching up against opponents’ top talent. She has also played to a 9-6 record at No. 1 doubles. Carlon was named RMAC Player of the Week on April 3 after playing to a 3-1 record at No. 1 singles in California.

Harames has posted an 11-3 mark in singles play, including a 10-3 mark at No. 2 and a 6-4, 6-1 victory at the No. 1 position vs. CSU-Pueblo. Additionally, Harames has teamed up with Lynch to post a 9-6 record at No. 2 doubles, including a 2-1 mark in RMAC play.

Lynch leads the Trailblazers with a team-best 11-2 mark in singles play, including a 9-2 record at No. 4 and a 2-0 mark at the No. 3 position. Lynch is 8-2 is her last 10 singles matches and posted a perfect 3-0 record in RMAC play. Additionally, Lynch, alongside Harames, has recorded a 9-6 mark at No. 2 doubles.

The Trailblazers take on Colorado Mesa on Friday at 1 p.m., in the opening round of the RMAC tournament in Grand Junction, Colorado.
