America is a society based on the belief that each citizen should have the right to have their voice heard in politics. However, many Americans feel like their voices aren’t being heard in politics today. The reality is that it doesn’t have to be this way. Citizens can call or email members of Congress to voice their concerns. Each congressional leader has a call report that receives tallies each time they are contacted about an issue. This gives congressional leaders an idea of what the people in their district are concerned about. It isn’t unheard of for leaders to change their stance on an issue based on these reports.

So while Americans may think they don’t have a voice, the opposite is true. Calling and emailing are only two ways to get involved, but there are several other options. No matter what form of communication is used, now is the time for citizens to become more involved in the laws and regulations that are passed in Congress.
