CHANDLER, Ariz. – Dixie State’s women’s golf team is the clubhouse leader after the first round of play at the 2019 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships played on Easter Sunday at the Ocotillo Resort Golf Club.

DSU fired an opening round 18-over 306 en route to a one-stroke lead over second place Colorado State-Pueblo (307, +19), while the Trailblazers are six shots clear of third place Colorado Christian (312, +24) and are seven strokes ahead of fourth place Colorado Mesa (313, +25).

Three Trailblazers find themselves in the top 10 on the player leaderboard through their first 18 holes, led by the duo of sophomore Kaitlynn Deeble and freshman Madison Moss who are tied for third overall at 2-over 74. Deeble penciled in a team-high three birdies on her card, while Moss rolled in a birdie on both her front and back nines, as the pair are one shot out of the individual lead.

Meanwhile, senior Katie Ford opened with a birdie, one of two she carded on her front nine, to finish day one in a four-way tie for seventh at 4-over 76, followed by sophomore Cailyn Cardall in t-31st at 10-over 82 and freshman Tayllore Ward in t-39th at 12-over 84.

Dixie State will look to build upon its lead in Monday’s second round when the Blazers tee off at 10:03 a.m. MDT.
