Avery Tanner, 20, was rock climbing with a group of friends at Wasatch Mountain State Park when she fell 20 feet and hit her head, said Utah State Parks spokesman Eugene Swalberg.

Swalberg said Tanner was not wearing a helmet at the time of the fall and was breathing but not conscious, prompting responders to summon a medical helicopter.

While members of the group had climbing gear, what kind and the skill level of the climbers was not immediately known. A park ranger from Deer Creek State Park responded and the woman was taken by helicopter to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.
