Weber State softball swept the doubleheader over Montana Friday afternoon clinching a spot in the Big Sky Tournament. First, WSU shutout the Griz with a 5-0 score and then later defeated them 5-2.
How it happened: To start the game off, Chloe Camarero hit one deep over right field for a solo home run putting the Wildcats on the board early.
In the bottom of the third inning, Takesha Saltern started things off with a double to center field. Camarero then hit a triple by burning Montana's right fielder for an RBI.
Later in the third, Faith Hoe doubled to center field for another WSU RBI. As the third inning came to a close WSU had a 3-0 lead.
The fourth and fifth innings went scoreless for both teams and Weber State's offensive efforts picked up again in the bottom of the sixth. Courtney Pestka started it off with a single to center field. Saltern was also able to get on base.
With two runners on and both in scoring position, Sadie Blacker came up to bat and singled up the middle scoring one run. Blacker rounded first to draw the defense's attention and Saltern snuck across home for another WSU run.
As the game concluded Montana remained scoreless and WSU finished with a final of five runs.
At the plate: Weber State finished the game with five runs, 12 hits, five RBIs and left six on base. WSU was led by Chloe Camarero who went 2-2 with two runs and Takesha Saltern who went 3-4 with two runs. Weber State had five strikeouts and drew one walk.
In the circle: Tatiana Su'esu'e started in the circle for the Wildcats and pitched four complete innings, giving up two hits, no runs, two walks and had two strikeouts in the 16 batters faced.
Addie Jensen came in to close out the game and had four strikeouts in the 10 batters faced.
How it happened: In the first inning, Ashlyn Visser had a single to center field for an RBI and just like the first game, WSU had a run on the board to start things off.
In the top of the second, Montana hit one over the center field fence for a two run homer to take the lead over the Wildcats for the first time of the entire day.
The lead didn't stand long however, as Weber State matched and recaptured the lead. Saltern was able to get on with a single to third base and Camarero also had a single to second. Visser then came up with a double to right field scoring two runs. Thanks to a sac fly by Lauren Hoe, WSU was able to score another run.
At the end of the third, WSU had a 4-2 lead. In the bottom of the fourth, Saltern was able to cross the plate once more for the Wildcats final run of the day.
The rest of the game went scoreless and Weber State closed it out with a final score of 5-2.

Kate Donaldson finished the game for WSU and had one strikeout.
Stats to know: Weber State is now 19-18 overall on the season and sit at 11-1 Big Sky action. WSU has clinched a spot in the Big Sky tournament with the two victories today.
