SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — The Weber State men's golf team earned a third place finish at the UC Santa Barbara Collegiate on Tuesday after posting a three-round total of 871 at Sandpiper Golf Club.

The Wildcats opened the tournament with a 1-under-par 287 on Monday morning and followed with an even-par 288 in the afternoon. On Tuesday, with scores up across the board, the Wildcats posted a 296 to close the event at 7-over-par.

Jayce Frampton led the Wildcats, shooting rounds of 73, 74 and 70 for a 1-over-par 217 and a tie for 5th place on the individual leaderboard. Frampton carded nine birdies and an eagle over the 54-hole event, including five birdies in his 2-under-par final round.

Boston Watts, who opened the tournament with five birdies in a bogey-free opening round, followed his 67 with rounds of 75 and 76 to close the tournament at 2-over-par 218. Watts joined Frampton in the top-10, earning a tie for eighth place.

Reese Fisher posted rounds of 74, 72 and 73 for a 3-over-par 219 and a tie for 12th place, giving the Wildcats a trio of players in the top-12.

Sean Badger shot rounds of 73, 72 and 77 to finish in a tie for 21st at 6-over-par 222, while Hunter Howe used a 2-under-par 70 in the second round to highlight a tie for 25th place at 8-over-par 224. Oliver Drew rounded out the Wildcat team with a score of 235 in his collegiate debut and earned a tie for 48th place.

UC Santa Barbara used a very impressive 14-under-par 274 in the second round to fuel a three-round total of 4-over-par 868 to earn the team title. The Gauchos' 274 was 20 shots better than either of their other two rounds and was the best single-round score of any team in the field by 12 shots. UC Riverside shot a final round 293 to edge the Wildcats out of second place by one stroke at 870.

UC Riverside's Andrew Spilman shot rounds of 70, 71 and 72 to earn the individual medalist title with a 3-under-par 213. Cal Baptist's Ben Hallam and UCSB's Zach Smith tied for second place at 215.

The tournament is the final event on the Wildcats' schedule ahead of the Big Sky Conference Championships, which will take place April 26-28 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
