In response to Erin Stewart's article on raising tolerant children: In 1969, when our three children were 10, 13 and 15, we were given an opportunity to join the Peace Corps as a family. It was exactly the opportunity we wanted for them to be able to live in a different environment.
Our assignment was to Colombia in South America. While it was a very different for all of us, it couldn’t have been a better experience for all of us. Several times over the years, all three children have expressed what a blessing it was in their lives and how grateful they were to have been given the opportunity.
