Officers were called to a Chevron at 680 N. Main Wednesday on a report of a fight between a customer and the store owner, according to a statement from the Clearfield Police Department. When they arrived, they found the customer unconscious.

The customer was identified as Brandon Stufflebean, 39.

Multiple witnesses and the store owner, who is cooperating with investigators, reported that Stufflebean came into the store and an argument began between him and employees "over the purchase of a drink," police said.

"The argument escalated into a physical confrontation and the victim was punched once in the face causing the injury," according to the police statement.

Officers had not made any arrests in connection to the incident as of Thursday afternoon.

The Davis County Attorney's Office will review the case to determine whether to file criminal charges after receiving reports from the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office and from police.
