Utah State's golf team continues its 2019 spring season on Monday, April 8, at the Wyoming-hosted Cowboy Classic. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be held on the Cattail Course at the Whirlwind Golf Club at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler, Arizona. The tournament will play at par-72 over the 7,218-yard layout.

Teams will tee off in a shotgun format at 7:30 a.m. MDT each day.

This year's 20-team field includes Boise State, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, Northern Colorado, Old Dominion, Santa Clara, Southern Utah, Stephen F. Austin, UC Davis, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, UT Arlington, UT Rio Grande Valley, Utah State, Utah Valley, Weber State, Wichita State and Wyoming.

Scheduled to compete for the Aggies are juniors Hayden Eckert (Buhl, Idaho) and Chase Lansford (Colleyville, Texas), sophomores Colten Cordingley (Rexburg, Idaho) and Andy Hess (Idaho Falls, Idaho), and freshman Cameron Tucker (Ogden, Utah).

During its last tournament, Utah State finished in fifth place out of eight teams at the Cal Poly-hosted Match Play Championships as it notched a 3.5-1.5 win against Southern Utah, lost to UC Irvine, 4.0-1.0, and lost to Sacramento State, 3.0-2.0. Against the Thunderbirds, Tucker won his match 5&4, Eckert won his match 5&3, and Cordingley won his match 4&2, while Lansford halved his match and Hess lost his match 4&3. Against the Anteaters, Hess was the only Aggie to record a win with a 2&1 victory. In other matches, Lansford lost 5&4, Tucker lost 2&1, Eckert lost 4&3, and Cordingley lost 3&2. And against the Hornets, Hess won his match 3&2 and Eckert won his match 2 up, while Lansford lost 6&4, Tucker lost 4&3, and Cordingley lost 6&5.

At last year’s Wyoming Cowboy Classic, Utah State finished 10th out of 15 teams as Cordingley tied for 20th with a 1-under-par 215 (75-73-67), Lansford tied for 40th at 3-over-par 219 (76-73-70), Eckert tied for 66th at 8-over-par 224 (73-76-75) and Hess tied for 83rd at 14-over-par 230 (76-73-81).

Cordingley leads Utah State this season with a stroke average of 73.07 over 14 rounds, Hess has a stroke average of 73.79 over 14 rounds, Lansford has a stroke average of 74.07 over 14 rounds, Eckert has a stroke average of 75.14 over 14 rounds, and Tucker averaged a 75.25 over eight rounds.
