Late night host Jimmy Kimmel spent last week poking fun at Gonzaga, which reached the Sweet 16 for the fifth consecutive season.

“I have a theory,” he said. “I know this might be controversial but here it is: I don’t believe Gonzaga exists. I have never heard the word Gonzaga outside of college basketball. I don’t know where it is, I don’t know anyone who went there, I don’t even know anyone who knows anyone who went there.”

John Stockton is thinking: “Who’s Jimmy Kimmel?”

FINDING ZION

Count Michigan State coach Tom Izzo among Zion Williamson’s fans.“He’s not Superman,” Izzo said of the Duke star, “but he’s (darn) close.”

Yet Williamson didn’t get off a shot in the final three possessions of the Blue Devils’ loss to MSU.

These things happen when you fly to the Fortress of Solitude for a bathroom break.

PATIENCE PLUS

The Alliance of American Football has a chance of failing in its first season, according a the league owner.

But no worries, there’s always another offshoot league on the way. The Legends Football League — formerly known as the Lingerie Football League — kicks off its new season Friday. Meanwhile, XFL2 is set to start in 2020.

Not interested?

Maybe that’s the reason the NFL is so popular.

You have to wait until football season for it to arrive.

A MODEL HOME

At his farewell press conference a week ago, Dave Rose said “one of the most special things in our recruiting is this building — the Marriott Center. And if we can get a player in the building, you know, before he's committed (elsewhere) and if he has a real interest, there's a really good chance we're going to get him and he's going to want to come because this is a really special place.”

Cool, so next time they recruit a star such as Jabari Parker or Frank Jackson, please, start by giving him keys to the gym.

AN AIR BALL

Before losing to Gonzaga in the NCAA Tournament, Fairleigh Dickinson coach Greg Herenda said the chance of an upset in college hoops is real because there isn’t as large a talent gap as before.

“It’s not a reach,” he said. “So I think you’ll see more of it.”

Considering the Knights lost the next night by 38 points, this might be the worst take since Mel Kiper called John Walsh a top-five draft pick.

JAM FEST

Rudy Gobert set an NBA record for dunks in a season, recording his 250th last Monday.

He celebrated by looping the 1983 film “The Right Stuff” all night on his VCR.
