SALT LAKE CITY — Johanna Jones, a 23-year-old Brigham Young University student, is no longer on “American Idol.”

Jones, who lives in Las Vegas and made it to the top 40 after Hollywood week, was eliminated on Sunday night’s episode, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

  • “It’s been such a beautiful journey so far, but unfortunately, this is the end of the road here at ‘American Idol,’” judge Katy Perry told Jones.

According to the Daily Herald, Jones said to the cameras after her auditions that “American Idol” was “the craziest journey” and she still has “a lot more to give.”

  • “I’m disappointed,” Jones told the cameras. “The last thing you want is to get sent home.”

Flashback: Jones made headlines during Hollywood week after she and her boyfriend, fellow BYU student Matt Zavoral, got engaged on the “American Idol” stage, according to the Deseret News.

Zavoral surprised Jones after her audition with the proposal, which had judge Katy Perry bawling her eyes out.
