SALT LAKE CITY — Easter is on its way — and the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, the Orchestra at Temple Square, the Bells on Temple Square and the Gabriel Trumpet Ensemble are all celebrating together. "He Is Risen: A Sacred Easter Presentation," an Easter concert at the Salt Lake Tabernacle, will be held on April 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m.
The performances will celebrate Jesus Christ's resurrection and will feature related hymns and songs, as well as readings from the New Testament.
Performances will include "How Great the Wisdom and the Love," the arrangement of "He Is Risen" by choir director Mack Wilberg. They will also perform "Tree of Life" from the Choir and Orchestra's 2018 album of the same name, as well as “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling” from the Choir's album "Let Us All Press On." The presentation will close with "Worthy Is The Lamb" from Handel's "Messiah."
The closing piece will preview the Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square's 2020 performance of Handel's "Messiah." This biennial performance has been a tradition since 2014.
Tickets are free on a first come, first served basis and will be available at ChurchofJesusChrist.org or by calling 801-570-0080 (locally) or toll-free at 1-866-637-8457 starting Tuesday, March 26 at 9 a.m.
Two tickets will be available per patron for those ages 8 and older. Anyone without a ticket can wait in a standby line by the Tabernacle flagpole.
The concert will be available for streaming through a variety of platforms. On April 20 you can watch at ChurchOfJesusChrist.org, thetabernaclechoir.org, the Choir's YouTube channel and its Facebook page. The program will also be broadcast on BYUtv on Easter Sunday, April 21 at 6 p.m.
