OREM — Utah Valley junior guard Jake Toolson has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 6 Team. Toolson earned a first team selection on the team.
The WAC Player of the Year and First Team All-WAC honoree averages 15.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. He leads the WAC in 3-point field goal percentage (44.7) and ranks third in both field goal percentage (53.9) and free throw percentage (85.1).
Toolson currently holds a 44.7 percent mark from long range this season, connecting on an impressive 68-of-152 shots from deep. The mark currently puts him in third on the UVU single season 3-point percentage chart. Toolson ranks third all-time at UVU with a 41.5 percent career mark. He is shooting an impressive 85.1 percent from the free-throw line this season. He tied a school record with 41 straight made free throws earlier this season.1 comment on this story
Toolson recorded a pair of perfect shooting performances this season. He knocked down a perfect 8-of-8 shots from the field, including a perfect 2-of-2 from 3-point range, along with a perfect 2-of-2 shots from the free-throw line as he scored 20 points in an 87-72 win over Long Beach State in the championship game of the MGM Main Event in Las Vegas on Nov. 21. Toolson also connected on a perfect 6-of-6 shooting from the field, including a 2-of-2 mark from long range. He also hit a perfect 6-of-6 shots at the free-throw line as he finished with 20 points in an 85-79 win over Sam Houston State on Dec. 22.
The All-District teams were selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC in NCAA Division I.
