Donny and Marie Osmond perform at their long-running show at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas.

Update: Hear what the Osmonds had to say here.

SALT LAKE CITY — Donny and Marie Osmond are up to something.

Donny Osmond said on social media Wednesday that he and his sister Marie would be on Thursday morning’s “Good Morning America” episode during the 8 a.m. hour.

“Marie and I have a HUGE announcement to make!” he said.

The Osmonds announced back in October 2018 that they planned to retire from the Vegas circuit later this year, which I wrote about for the Deseret News. The brother-sister duo have spent 11 years performing at the Flamingo hotel-casino in Vegas.

  • “Next year is our final year,” said Donny Osmond, according to KTNV. “We’ve been talking about it for a long time. But, definitely, our countdown has started. It was supposed to be six weeks at the Flamingo. It will be 11 years, and it will be the end.”

Donny Osmondwho recently finished up his run as The Peacock on “The Masked Singer” — told me in an exclusive interview that he was in the middle of writing a show that he hopes could be performed on Broadway.

  • “There are a lot of really cool opportunities. But I'm at the point where … we just want to be in things that are fun.
  • “I'm not in the mode of just saying, ‘OK, I need to do something, I need to stay out there, in the public's eyes.’ We did it for 56 years. And I want to do things that are fun, that are clever, that pushed me as an artist. I'm currently writing a show that I'm hoping here in the next couple of years could be on Broadway. So very, very exciting show and stuff like that. I'm working on my 62nd album. So I'm just having fun at this point and that's why I accepted the show. It was challenging and it was a blast.”
  • Osmond said he would enjoy collaborating with artists such as Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande and Post Malone, too.
