SALT LAKE CITY — Napoleon Dynamite’s Jared and Jerusha Hess will produce and direct a new film for the Salt Lake Film Society’s media accelerator studio.

What's going on: The Hess duo joined the SLFS’s media accelerator program, MAST, to direct a new short film called “Voices Seen,” according to a news release from the SLFS.

  • The short will have eight to 10 scenes total.
  • Each of the scenes will be animated by a winner of the “Voices Seen” animation contest, which is funded by MAST.
  • The contest remains open for submission.
  • “I am thrilled to be a part of showcasing the incredible talent we have here in Utah,” Jerusha Hess said in a statement sent to the Deseret News.

Bigger picture: The “Voices Seen” project will be produced in Utah. It will have multiple screenings across the Beehive State, too.
