SALT LAKE CITY — If you’ve been waiting on wands and needles for "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" to come west, we now have confirmation and dates.
What happened: According to Playbill, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” has set dates for its West Coast premiere this October.
- Performances begin Oct. 23 at San Francisco’s Curran with an official press opening Dec. 1, Playbill reported.
- Tickets will go on sale to the public Thursday, March 14, at 9 a.m. MDT.
- Ticket buyers can sign up now for priority access to buy tickets before they go on sale to the general public. You can do so on the play’s official website.
In a joint statement about the show, producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender said, “We are delighted to make San Francisco’s historic Curran home to the exclusive West Coast production of 'Cursed Child' this fall, and we look forward to sharing the wonder and magic of this astonishing show for as long as audiences will have us.”
"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" is the eighth story in the “Harry Potter” series. It is the first story in the "Harry Potter" franchise to be presented on stage.
According to the Deseret News, the play has been very successful, receiving nine Olivier Awards and six Tony awards.
- The play debuted in London in 2016 and premiered in New York in April of last year.
