SALT LAKE CITY — The Westminster Griffins women's basketball team found itself down early in the first half of play as the Fort Lewis Skyhawks led 33-29 at halftime. With a strong third quarter performance, the Griffins took control with 25 points in the quarter to secure their 14th conference victory of the season.

Kaylee Carlsen led the team with 24 points, with three shots beyond the arc and seven points from the free-throw line in the victory for Westminster.

Three other players added double-digit scoring on the night for the Griffins as Oliva Eliss scored 15, Kaitlin Tolunono went 4-7 from the field with 10 points of her own and Denise Gonzalez added 11 points on the night with seven assists.

Fort Lewis was led by Jordan Carter who went 8-14 from the field with 16 points. Sydney Canderlaria was the other Skyhawk with a double-figure total, adding 12 points for her team in defeat.

Next up, the Griffins will face off with the top team in the RMAC next Friday night as Colorado Mesa will bring their unbeaten conference record to Salt Lake City at 5:30 MST inside the Behnken Field House.
