Layton leads way at 6A Divisional A meet

WEST JORDAN — Layton finished first at the 6A Divisional A state qualifying meet at Copper Hills High School on Saturday as it qualified 17 wrestlers to the 6A state meet in two weeks.

Layton had nine individual champions as it racked up 446.5 team points.

Westlake finished second with 384.5 team points, qualifying 18 wrestlers to the state meet.

Herriman rounded out the top three finishing with 380.5 points and also qualifying 18 wrestlers for state.

Pleasant Grove dominates at Divisional B meet

SYRACUSE — Defending 6A state champion Pleasant Grove dominated the Divisional B state qualifying meet on Saturday.

It racked up 559.5 team points at Syracuse High School and qualified 26 wrestlers to the 6A state meet in two weeks. The Vikings finished with five individual state champs.

Second-place Syracuse qualified 20 wrestlers for the state meet as it finished with 403 points.

Fremont finished third with 312.5 points and qualified 15 wrestlers for state.
