SALT LAKE CITY — Registration is now open for the police department’s Citizens Academy, which will begin Wednesday, March 6.Comment on this story
The five-week course is designed for those who want to become more acquainted with how the police department functions.
During the academy, citizens will receive training in varied aspects of law enforcement, including the basics of patrol tactics, defensive tactics and firearms.
To attend, applicants must be at least 18 years of age and live or work in the city.
Classes will be every Wednesday through April 3. All classes will start at 6 p.m. and end at 9 p.m. Applications to attend the upcoming Citizens Academy are due on or before Wednesday, Feb. 20.
