SALT LAKE CITY — Utah will have a representative on “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” this season.

Joe Anglim is his name, and he hails from Ogden.

What we know: Anglim was born in Chandler, Arizona, andpreviously starred on the “Worlds Apart” and “Cambodia — Second Chance” seasons.

  • He also participated in and won “The Price is Right Survivor” special.
  • The multimedia artist says being on “Survivor” was his lifelong dream.
  • Anglim says he is “adaptable, adventurous and able,” according to Entertainment Weekly.

Three things: He said he’d bring a picture of his family and his girlfriend onto the island, along with brushes, paint and a canvas. As well as a GoPro. That’s technically five things.

Why does he think he’ll win?: “Hopefully, I’ve gained enough experience from my last two failed attempts and I can take all that I learned and apply it. I know I can get to the end if I’m adaptable enough. I just have to constantly adjust and rely on both my past knowledge of how to interact and motivate others to produce good, positive results. Just going to play ‘smarter not harder.’”

Inspiration: In an interview with CBS during his first “Survivor” appearance, Anglim said his dad is a huge inspiration.

Comment on this story
  • “My whole life, he was incredibly hard on me and always pushing me to become better at everything I did. He grew up very poor and in a large family in which he endured a lot of hardships. Through the pain and sadness of divorce, family tragedies and death of loved ones, he was still able to keep faith and carry on. He has been an amazing father and role model to me and my sisters and he is a loyal hardworking husband who puts others before himself. I’ve always looked up to him and I hope that I can be as strong, loving and fearless as he is when I become a husband and father.”

Debut: The show begins Feb. 20 on CBS.
