A Hurricane man was arrested for investigation of negligent homicide after police say he sold heroin to a man who fatally overdosed on the drug.

WASHINGTON, Washington County — A Hurricane man was arrested over the weekend after police say he sold heroin to a person who fatally overdosed on the drug.

Gadge Leelynd Christensen, 19, was formally charged in 5th District Court Monday with negligent homicide, a class A misdemeanor, and drug distribution, a second-degree felony. Bail was set at just under $12,000.

On Jan. 7, Washington City police responded to a call of a possible fatal overdose. Officers arrived to find a deceased person and evidence of heroin, according to a police affidavit.

Information collected from that scene led the Washington County Drug Task Force to serve a search warrant on Christensen's home Friday night. In his room, investigators found several items of drug paraphernalia, a second police affidavit states.
