Sandy Police Sgt. Jason Nielsen said he was unsure of the height the boy fell from or what led to the fall from the ride inside the store at 11282 S. State. He noted police don't think it was under suspicious circumstances, but the cause of the fall is currently under investigation.

Police said the boy has autism and was at the Ferris wheel with his father when the incident occurred. Multiple 911 calls were placed to report the fall at around 3:00 p.m.

"At this point it sounds like a tragic incident and our hearts go out to the family and everybody that was involved in this," Nielsen said.
