Crews were called to 100 N. 168 East at 1:35 p.m. and found four units threatened by the blaze, said South Davis Metro Fire Chief Jeff Bassett.

A woman in the top unit burned her face while trying to put out the fire, Bassett said, and she was taken to a local hospital in serious condition.

Bassett said the top apartment unit is considered a total loss after the fire. The unit underneath it was damaged by water. The other two units threatened by the fire remain "habitable," Bassett said.

The Red Cross will help the occupants of the damaged units.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
