WELLSVILLE, Cache County — Police are searching for a Cache County Jail inmate who they say escaped by stealing a truck Thursday.

Joshua Michael Aders, 32, was serving a sentence in the jail on charges of fraud, theft, failure to appear warrants and drug-related crimes, according to a news release from the Cache County Sheriff's Office. He was scheduled to be released in May.

Aders escaped about 11:45 a.m. while working at the American West Heritage Center Farm in Wellsville, officials said. Inmates with "a history of good behavior" are able to volunteer at the farm.

Aders allegedly stole a 2005 white Ford Ranger while at the farm and drove away.

He was last seen in Wellsville wearing the jail uniform — a fluorescent green T-shirt, black and white striped pants and black lace-up boots, authorities said.

Aders has blue eyes and brown hair, is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds.

The truck he stole has an orange caution light on top of the cab, a diamond-plated toolbox in the bed and the license plate number D450Y, according to the release.

Officials urged anyone who comes in contact with Aders to call 911. Anyone with information regarding Aders is asked to call the sheriff's office at 435-753-7555.
