Utah State's Felipe Acosta was named the Mountain West Men's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played through Tuesday, Jan. 15.

It is the first time this season and the second time in his career that the Aggie sophomore has earned MW Player of the Week honors.

Acosta, a native of Chascomus, Argentina, posted a 4-0 mark in singles and doubles play last week as he helped Utah State to a 2-0 record against Weber State (0-2) and Idaho State (0-1). Against WSU, Acosta posted a straight-sets win (6-3, 6-1) against Paul Odhe at No. 4 singles. Against ISU, he posted a straight-sets win at No. 4 singles (6-1, 6-1) against Francis Filipovich. In doubles, Acosta and junior Duro Opacic posted a 2-0 record at the third doubles position, with a 7-6 (5) win against Weber State's Nick Werner and Bo-Han Li and a 6-4 win against Fynn Lohse and Filipovich of Idaho State.

The Aggies are back in action this week as they head to Southern California for a pair of dual matches. Utah State will play at San Diego on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m. MT, and at UC Irvine on Sunday, Jan. 20, at noon.
